Karachi University Enforces Strict Attendance Policy for Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff

Disciplinary Action Warned Against Violators of Official Timings under University Act; New Schedule Notified

KARACHI (Education Reporter) The administration of the University of Karachi has issued strict directives to ensure the punctual attendance and presence of both teaching and non-teaching staff in their respective departments, warning of disciplinary action against those violating official work hours.

The decision comes following strong emphasis on punctuality and administrative discipline by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tufail Jokhio.

Notification Issued by Registrar Office

According to an official notification issued by the Registrar of Karachi University, Prof. Dr. Imran Ahmad Siddiqui, all Deans, Directors, Chairpersons, and Heads of Departments (HODs) have been instructed to monitor and guarantee the mandatory presence of their staff during official working hours.

Official Work Hours & Prayer Breaks

As per the notified schedule:

  • Working Days: Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • Monday to Thursday Break: 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM (for lunch and prayers).
  • Friday Break: 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM.

Strict Disciplinary Action Warned

The administration made it clear that failure to adhere to the prescribed timings will attract strict disciplinary proceedings under the University of Karachi Employees (Efficiency and Discipline) Ordinance 1962 and the Karachi University Act 1972. Issued with the approval of the Vice-Chancellor, these orders are effective immediately.
