KARACHI(our correspondent) In a major move to provide financial relief to parents, the Sindh Education and Literacy Department has imposed an immediate ban on the sale of textbooks, stationery, and uniforms within the premises of private educational institutions across the province.
Key Highlights of the Notification:
- Ban on Direct Sales: Private school administrations are strictly prohibited from selling books, notebooks, or uniforms inside the school.
- Freedom of Purchase: It is now a legal offense to force parents to purchase school items from specific shops or designated vendors.
- Mandatory Booklists: Schools are required to provide a complete list of required textbooks and stationery to parents at the start of the academic year, allowing them to buy from the open market at competitive prices.
- Monogram Restriction: Forcing parents to buy notebooks embossed with specific school monograms or logos has also been declared illegal.
Strict Penalties for Non-Compliance:
The Directorate of Private Institutions has issued a stern warning. Schools found violating these orders will face:
- Heavy Fines.
- Cancellation of School Registration.
This decision has been widely welcomed by social circles and parents, as it aims to reduce the growing financial burden and ensure transparency in educational expenses.
