PESHAWAR (University Reporter) An emergency general body meeting of the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Associations (FAPUASA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter was held yesterday under the chairmanship of Provincial President Professor Dr. Zakirullah Jan. The session was attended by the Presidents and General Secretaries of Academic Staff Associations from all public sector universities across the province. During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held regarding the Centralized Senate Standing Committee established by the KP government to review the Disparity Reduction Allowance (DRA) and other financial benefits for university employees.
The forum unanimously demanded that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government immediately clear all arrears of the DRA—specifically the 25% approved in 2021, 15% in 2025, and 15% in 2026—effective from the dates of their respective official notifications. Furthermore, participants demanded that the House Requisition Allowance, which was approved for Secretariat employees in 2026, be extended to university employees without discrimination. The body also strongly urged the government to increase the PhD allowance from the current Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 25,000 and to revise the Teaching Allowance by linking it to the current basic pay.
The general body categorically declared that any proposal aiming to reduce or eliminate the legitimate and legal allowances of university employees would be fiercely rejected. The session concluded with a stern warning to the KP government and the relevant committee: if any attempt is made to abolish or slash these rightful allowances, or if FAPUASA’s legitimate demands are ignored, the organization will announce a strict future course of action, which will inevitably include approaching the courts and launching a widespread protest movement.
