Interviews for University of Karachi Vice Chancellor to Begin July 9; Search Committee Clears 47 Candidates as Grade 22 and 21 Bureaucrats Enter the Race for the First Time in History
KARACHI (Education Reporter) The interview process for the prestigious post of Vice Chancellor at the University of Karachi—the country’s largest university—is scheduled to commence on July 9 and will span over four days. Following a rigorous vetting process, the Search Committee completed the scrutiny of 52 initial applications and declared 47 candidates eligible for the final interviews, with 12 candidates scheduled to be interviewed each day.
In a historic first for the University of Karachi, serving high-ranking bureaucrats have entered the running for the top academic post, including Grade 22 bureaucrat Naveed Ahmed Shaikh and Grade 21 bureaucrat Dr. Saif-ur-Rehman. The battlefield for the VC slot features a diverse pool of heavyweights, including current and former vice-chancellors of various universities, prominent professors, bureaucrats, barristers, a retired brigadier, and other distinguished professionals.
