MULTAN (Special Reporter) — In a significant development in the high-profile case involving the alleged harassment and issuance of threats to a female professor at Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) Multan, police have arrested the suspended university professor, Dr. Ihsan Qadir Bhutta.
Background and Previous Case
According to details, a case of alleged assault had previously been registered against the accused, Dr. Ihsan Qadir Bhutta, on the complaint of his former colleague, Dr. Shazia, who serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Forestry.
During the investigation of that primary case, forensic and medical examinations had validated the allegations leveled by the complainant female professor. Furthermore, departmental action was also initiated against a police officer over alleged irregularities during the initial probe. Although the accused was later released on bail by the court, the main case remains under trial.
New Threats and Harassment After Bail
Sources revealed that after being released on bail, Dr. Ihsan Qadir Bhutta allegedly sent threatening and harassing letters to Dr. Shazia and her family members. Consequently, the victimized professor filed a new complaint with the police, expressing severe concerns over the safety and security of her life, as well as her family’s well-being.

Taking strict notice of the gravity of the situation, RPO Multan immediately handed over the investigation to SP Cantt Khadija.

According to sources, SP Cantt Khadija conducted a meticulous review of the case, heard the stances of both parties, and thoroughly examined the available evidence and records. Upon verification of the offense, the police took swift action and arrested Dr. Ihsan Qadir Bhutta. Following his arrest, the accused was shifted to the Chelehk Police Station, where further legal proceedings against him have been initiated.
