The Government of Punjab has officially announced a comprehensive financial aid package for the families affected by the heartbreaking incident in Kahna, Lahore, where the roof of a tuition center collapsed, resulting in the casualties of innocent children.

Break-up of Financial Assistance

According to the official details released by the Punjab government:

• For the Deceased: Financial assistance of Rs. 2 million (20 Lakhs) per capita will be provided to the next of kin of each innocent child who lost their life in the tragic accident.
• For the Injured: Compensation of Rs. 500,000 (5 Lakhs) per capita will be given to the children and other individuals who sustained injuries after being trapped under the debris.

CM Maryam Nawaz Takes Notice

Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, took immediate notice of the tragic accident in Kahna and expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of lives. She directed the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore to take emergency measures and ensure proper care for the affected families. The Chief Minister assured that the government would not leave the victims alone in this hour of grief and every possible assistance would be extended to them.

Immediate Commencement of Disbursements

Advisor to the Chief Minister Punjab, Zeeshan Malik, informed the media that on the special directives of the Chief Minister, formal orders for the immediate disbursement of financial aid have been issued. He clarified that with the cooperation of the district administration, the relief distribution process would be started without any delay to provide immediate financial support to the grieving families.

Future Strategy and Inquiry

According to official sources, while medical and financial aid is being provided to the victims on one hand, a high-level investigation has also been launched into the incident on the other. The objective of the inquiry is to determine the actual cause of the accident, fix responsibility, and formulate a solid strategy to prevent such tragic and catastrophic incidents in the future.
