LAHORE (Education Reporter)
The Government of Punjab has announced a major initiative to provide 100,000 electric bikes (E-bikes) to students across the province. These bikes will be distributed on highly accessible and completely interest-free installments.
Affordable and Eco-Friendly Travel
According to the Provincial Minister for Education, Rana Sikandar Hayat, only students will be included in the first phase of this revolutionary E-bike scheme. The primary objective is to provide the younger generation with an affordable, high-quality, and environmentally friendly transport facility. To minimize the financial burden on students, the monthly installment for the E-bike has been kept minimal at approximately Rs. 2,100.
Substantial Government Subsidy
Sharing further details, the Education Minister stated that the Punjab government is providing a heavy subsidy on both the registration and down payment of the vehicles. Under this relief package, an overall discount of up to Rs. 70,000 will be given to each student, ensuring that students belonging to poor and middle-class backgrounds can also afford to acquire an E-bike.
Transparent and Interest-Free Process
Rana Sikandar Hayat reiterated that the distribution of these 100,000 bikes to students across Punjab will be entirely interest-free. This approach is designed to allow a maximum number of deserving students to fully benefit from the government’s welfare step without facing any financial anxiety or complications.
