MDCAT Registrations Drop to 48,525 from Over 50,000 Last Year, Female Candidates Still Dominant Majority at 74%
LAHORE (Special Reporter) – A consistent downward trend in the number of students aspiring to enter medical and dental colleges in Punjab has been recorded for the third consecutive year.
According to latest data, 48,525 candidates have registered for this year’s Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) from Punjab, compared to 50,461 applicants last year. Statistics reveal that the decline in applicants is a recurring phenomenon, signaling a gradual shift in inclination among the youth away from the medical field.
However, the field continues to attract a dominant number of female candidates. Out of the total applicants registered for MDCAT this year, more than 74% are female, indicating that interest in medical education remains exceptionally high among women in the province.
