DERA ISMAIL KHAN (Bureau Report) The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Dera Ismail Khan has taken strict action regarding alleged financial and administrative irregularities at Gomal University. A formal notice has been issued to the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar, seeking a detailed explanation regarding recent allegations of corruption.
ACE Notice and Allegations
According to officials, the Anti-Corruption Department has written to Vice-Chancellor Dr. Zafar Iqbal and Registrar Zahir Shah, demanding a response to reports of financial mismanagement. The department is currently investigating claims involving the violation of protocols in administrative affairs and the suspected misuse of university funds.
University Administration’s Stance
In response, the Gomal University administration has assured full cooperation with the Anti-Corruption Department. A university spokesperson stated:
- A formal response to the ACE notice is currently being prepared.
- The administration maintains that all institutional actions were carried out legally and denies involvement in any unlawful activities.
“Obstacles to Progress”
Commenting on the situation, President of GUSA, Professor Dr. Noor Muhammad, told the media that certain elements are unable to stomach the progress of Gomal University. He alleged that specific groups are creating hurdles to sabotage the university’s achievements and reputation through such accusations.
