Bahawalnagar: 11 Members of a Family Hospitalized After Consuming CM Meal Programme Supply

BAHAWALNAGAR (News Desk – Courtesy Dawn News): Eleven members of a single family were hospitalized in Bahawalnagar after falling ill upon consuming milk allegedly distributed under the Chief Minister Punjab Meal Programme at Government Girls Primary School 186/7-R. According to reports from Rescue 1122 and Khichiwala police, the incident occurred in village 186/7-R, Khichiwala, where family members, including women and young children, entered a semi-conscious state shortly after consuming tea prepared with the milk.

In a video circulating on social media, affected family member Abdul Sattar stated that his daughter brought the milk package home from school and urged education authorities to investigate whether the supply was expired or contaminated. Conversely, the Fort Abbas District Education Officer and Chief Executive Officer (Education) Dr. Attaur Rehman refuted the allegations, stating that 132 out of 155 enrolled students at the school consumed the milk on the same day without any reported illness. Officials added that across the district, nearly 120,000 students consume the milk daily with zero reported food poisoning cases, confirming that an inquiry found no quality issues and that the milk cartons carried an expiry date of January 12, 2027.
