PESHAWAR (University Reporter) Employees of the University of Peshawar have finalized their preparations to launch a massive protest movement to demand a resolution to the ongoing financial and administrative crisis plaguing the institution. The employees have given a final ultimatum to take to the streets, raising severe concerns that academic and administrative operations across all universities in the province could be completely paralyzed. The staff has strongly urged the government to immediately play its pivotal role in rescuing this historic alma mater from its worst-case crisis.
Governments’ Silence Triggers Widespread Unrest
According to reliable sources, the employees of Peshawar University had previously sent multiple letters to both the federal and provincial governments, seeking a resolution to the crisis and the provision of necessary funds. However, the higher authorities completely ignored these communications, sending a wave of deep frustration and anxiety through the workforce. Following this cold shoulder from the government, the employees’ alliance has warned that a province-wide protest movement is now highly likely to erupt very soon.
Teachers, Non-Teaching Staff, and Pensioners Unite
Preparations to organize this protest movement on a large scale have been fully completed. Both the teaching faculty and non-teaching staff will participate side-by-side in the demonstrations.
Furthermore, this joint employee protest has gained the full backing of prominent academic and staff bodies, including:
- All Universities Employees Federation
- Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA)
- Peshawar University Teachers Association (PUTA)
In a major development, the pensioners of Peshawar University have also officially announced their decision to join the movement, aiming to amplify the pressure on the government to save the university from imminent collapse.
