Lahore (Education Reporter): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the provision of laptops and 5 buses for the students of Kinnaird College during its 89th convocation, stating that Punjab has been transformed into a women-friendly province.
Addressing the ceremony, the Chief Minister congratulated the faculty and parents, noting that every girl present represents a
complete success story. She mentioned that while 70% quotas were previously reserved for boys and 30% for girls, equal opportunities are now ensured for everyone across all government schemes. She encouraged the students by saying they are neither inferior nor behind anyone, and through hard work, they can rise to become Chief Ministers, ministers, commissioners, and deputy commissioners.
Maryam Nawaz highlighted that electric bus routes have been extended based on students’ requests, and these buses are equipped with CCTV cameras and panic buttons to prevent harassment. She firmly stated that crimes against women will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Additionally, a special meeting chaired by the Chief Minister approved a pilot project for model villages in 120 villages across Punjab, along with the decision to form village committees in consultation with public representatives in every village.
